Length of stay in hospital

Your time spent in hospital will vary depending on the procedure that is carried out. This will be explained to you when your procedure is booked.

Generally the length of stay for some more common procedures is:

  • Hip/knee joint replacement - 2-4 days

  • Shoulder replacement - 1-3 days

  • Rotator cuff repair / shoulder stabilisation - overnight stay

  • ACL reconstruction - overnight stay

  • Knee arthroscopy / meniscal repair - day surgery

Post-operative physiotherapy

Physiotherapists will review you prior to your discharge from hospital to ensure you are mobilising safely.

Some procedures require ongoing outpatient physiotherapy. Specific protocols for certain surgical procedures will be provided and accessible via our website HERE and you will need a password provided by Mr Churchill to access these.

Post-operative follow up

Post-operative follow-up appointments will be made and provided to you prior to your discharge from hospital.
